[Update: 14 May 2022] I was watching the news last night, which is something that I rarely do and strongly recommend against, and I noticed a story about a nationwide baby formula shortage and the Executive branch involvement with the story. This, combined with the abortion rights debate and the recent Supreme Court leak (secrets revealed), is basically and quite literally an emotional crisis (lunar eclipse) at the national government level, which by extension affects the People. Compare this when reading the last section of this article referencing the 30 April 1789 U.S. chart. What is more Lunar eclipse in the 4th house of a national chart, sandwiched between the Lunar nodes and the IC, than running out of baby formula (also see Ceres tie-in below) and a controversial Supreme Court ruling turning the abortion debate back to the states? This is what it means to be in eclipse season; the two weeks in between two eclipses, typically solar and lunar or lunar and solar.
More than one week ago on Saturday, 30 April 2022 we saw a partial solar eclipse across Chile and Argentina at 10 Taurus 28 (10 degrees and 28 minutes of the tropical sign of Taurus) and this eclipse gave us an added rarer feature of a near exact (within 1 minute of arc) conjunction of Venus and Jupiter at 27 Pisces 56/57 respectively. With this, many of us may be thinking of a beneficial and fortunate financial aspect to accompany the eclipse and for the most part I am tending to agree, at least for some of us and only in certain ways (I will try explain why very soon). The ruling planet of the eclipsed sign of Taurus, Venus, is conjoined Jupiter in Pisces, another “benefic” planet which is placed in it’s ruling sign. With all of this, Saturn is definitely in the mix as we look into the 16th, 32nd and 64th vibrational (harmonic) charts as Saturn squares Venus/Jupiter in 8v, opposes in 16v and conjoins closely in 64v at just over 5 degrees. I’m thinking that this has a lot to do with businesses, governments and really any central organizing unit that deals with a singular financial pool that belt tightening and efficiency are crucial in times such as these, especially within the current inflationary context. And this should go without saying, I know, but it is important to highlight the major themes. Survival will be awarded to those who are prepared so to speak.
In addition, this is a North Node solar eclipse, usually giving some unexpected benefits in the form of happy surprises, although these surprises are more likely within the context of personal horoscopes. We tend to gain or add to our lives during these times (when north node eclipses activate in our charts), although eclipses in general incline to reveal secrets and especially secrets on a world wide scale causing major disruptions. “Happy Secrets Revealed?” Who knows for certain, however the following triggering points have given us some clues.
This eclipse degree at 10 Taurus 28 was opposed by Mars in Scorpio around 15 November 2021, squared by Saturn in Aquarius on 18 December 2021 and conjoined by a very slow and powerful, stationing Uranus around 18 January 2022, although not exact, as Uranus stationed direct at 10 Taurus 49, just 21 minutes of arc (around .35 degrees) ahead of the exact eclipse point. Some may be wondering if this counts as a triggering point. I think that it does as Uranus does not track across that degree again for a long time AND Uranus did station on the degree number of the eclipse, so very close to the actual point. Mercury crossed this eclipse degree on 16 April 2022, meaning that clues and announcements related to the meaning of the eclipse should have been more obvious around that time, leading into the following week. I will highlight more about Mercury in a moment.
And what of the Moon’s North Node? We actually don’t see the Nodes’ connection point to this solar eclipse until 10 January 2023. Remember that the transiting Nodes to the eclipse points can happen either before or after the actual time of the eclipse just as it can with the planets. Usually, these are times when we see the major events that correspond to what the eclipse is telling us as the nodes define whether or not we have eclipses as the Lunar Nodes are the “eclipsing places,” i.e. where the Moon’s path crosses the ecliptic. Also, you may recall the upcoming institution of Basel III just nine days earlier, 1 January 2023, with precious metals returning as a much more fungible asset to the banks as financial institutions around the globe acquire more and more precious metal assets within an ever inflated fiat system. It looks as though some countries have already begun the next phase in this process as of the time of this writing (BRICS nations). And so yes, this IS a financial eclipse and very likely both a financial collapse and windfall, depending on what side of the event you are on, as it’s all within context.
Another critical point: all of this is very, very likely an epic food and agriculture related eclipse as well and one of the usual suspects for this kind of worldwide related activity, Ceres, is certainly involved. (See current food processing plant, fertilizer manufacturing, transportation supply chain and war related agriculture news). In fact the symbol for Ceres very closely resembles the hammer and sickle on the old U.S.S.R. flag as has been noted by astrologers in the past. For hundreds of years, Russia and nearby areas were known as the world’s bread basket, however the entire region is currently in crisis, specifically from the perspective of this Spring’s wheat planting season as various countries including and surrounding Ukraine and even further away from the conflict are placing export restrictions on their crops.
For the Taurus solar eclipse chart, Ceres in Gemini closely squares Neptune in Pisces with only a 20 minute orb while simultaneously forming a tight trine with Saturn with an applying 3 minute orb and these are very close orbs for a mundane chart. In the 8th vibrational (harmonic) chart, Ceres conjoins Neptune and the Sun/Moon eclipse with a less than 10 degree orb (16 allowable in harmonic charts for the conjunction), suggesting questions surrounding food and it’s ideal “always available” status within modern societies and the very real eclipse disruption to this Neptunian, utopic idea, Neptune representing an “attraction to an ideal” in Vibrational Astrology. Food may not always be around and in the way that we conceive of it today following the disruption that this eclipse appears to be showing us. See the Ceres/Demeter/Persephone mythology for more meaning and context to this all important dwarf planet.
Following the partial solar eclipse in Taurus mentioned above, Mercury stations retrograde on Tuesday, 10 May 2022 at 4 Gemini 52 for a long and arduous, nearly 24 day cycle (23 days, 20 hours), spanning just under 9 degrees of arc. (of note, just hours later in the day, Jupiter crosses 0 Aries, further highlighting the importance of these times!) Because of the long and slow backward motion of this Mercury retrograde period, Mercury will not transit retrograde over the Taurus solar eclipse point; nor will it exactly oppose the upcoming total Lunar eclipse degree at 25 Scorpio 18, although it is very close within less than a degree, at 47 minutes of arc, so this is more than likely another potent triggering date as Mercury stations direct, beginning it’s forward march through the zodiac on Friday 3 June 2022 at 26 Taurus 05. On 21 May 2022 in the early afternoon, Mercury conjoins with the Sun at 0 Gemini 43 for the next part of the Mercury retrograde phase and this will be an important touchstone in the cycle as well. Keep in mind that these Mercury retrograde periods are taking us on a journey and if you can keep your senses on the journey rather than worrying about the destination per se, then this will go much smoother for all of us.
Let’s digress a bit; Mercury entered it’s retrograde shadow on 25 April 2022 and leaves the shadow on 19 June 2022, although if you are one of those who subscribes to a certain way of doing or not doing any significant activities during a Mercury retrograde period, it may be best to wait until Mercury ingresses into the sign of Cancer on 5 July 2022. With this very conservative method, Mercury is completely out of the sign that it retrograded in. But this is not what I recommend. If one experiments with electional astrology in this way throughout the year, basing everything on a single factor consisting of Mercury’s retrograde status, then one is not very likely to do much of anything or accomplish much. From what I’ve noticed over the years, people tend to want to start something when Mercury is direct and in it’s shadow and very slow in motion, in the days just before the retrograde period, later regretting what they’ve started and needing to Re-Do it during the retrograde period. Retrograde periods can be very good at starting something in my opinion, thus the common advice out there in the pop astrology world is “bass akwards” as some say. See my article here on Mercury retrograde.
The upcoming total Lunar eclipse on Sunday 15 May 2022 at 25 Scorpio 18 represents the emotional crisis of the moment just as Mercury is a little over 5 days into it’s long 24 day cycle. Saturn at 24 Aquarius 56 closely squares the Sun and Moon of this chart, offering a very sobering view of the challenges and obstacles that we face, representing the real pressure to assess what matters about what we are witnessing. The south node previously transited this eclipse degree on 3 March 2022, so the events and discussion around that time would lead one to be able to draw conclusions about the war in Ukraine, amongst a variety of other issues that the world and planet are facing at this time. Eclipses affect everyone everywhere, so the discussion about the who, what, when, where and why will always be selective and limited.
Mars and Neptune closely conjoin in Pisces with a a 1 deg 32 min orb and each very tightly trines the eclipsed Moon of this chart and by extension, sextiles the Sun of the chart. What we’re seeing here is idealistic action, but from whose point of view? This can be interpreted (Magi Society) as something of a long and drawn out (Neptune) war (Mars). Interestingly, Mars is also sextile the Sun/Moon in the partial eclipse chart with 1 deg 25 min orb however, here Mars is behind the lunar eclipse degree at 23 Pisces 25, while Mars is ahead of the the solar eclipse degree in that chart at 11 Pisces 53. Another way of looking at this is that the eclipses (crisis points) offer opportunities and cooperation (sextiles) for further war (Mars, also think of Ike’s farewell speech). The 8v chart for the lunar eclipse further supports this with a tight Mars/Nodes/Eclipse triangle and upon further inspection through the 16, 32 and 64v charts, we unfortunately find Uranus and Pluto dragged into the mix and closely so in 64v as they square Mars, Sun/Moon while these oppose the Nodes/Mercury. Fortunately, the orbs are not tight enough for a complete T-square connecting the Nodes/Mercury to Uranus/Pluto. This is a particularly dangerous combo for sure while Mercury highlights the information and communication aspects of all of this, so let’s keep an eye on 21 May (Sun conj Merc retro) and 3 June (Mercury station direct opposed previous Lunar eclipse degree at 25 Scorpio 18). Also see the upcoming World Health Assembly vote in Switzerland (22 May through 28 May), placed conveniently between the two dates mentioned above.
The main point of this list is the recognition that eclipses are important and that if you know a persons birthday, then you have a rough idea of where in the zodiac their Sun is by zodiac degree. Please read the following article here for a better explanation and to obtain some further context on the effects of eclipses. Mercury Retrograde is included in this article as a reference for those seeking further clarification either with themselves or those they know (think of an intense communication (Mercury) and connecting of the dots (Mercury) in an obvious way (Sun) and in the present moment (Sun)). I have also included the Mercury station direct birthday list as Mercury is still very powerful and slow in this degree as well. Hint: compare the important Lunar eclipse birthdays to the Mercury direct station birthdays! This is an example of astrological “weather” and an illustration of the phrase, “when it rains it pours.”

Lastly, I would like to touch on a very important chart in the history of the Unites States, which is the Inauguration of George Washington. According to a YouTube presentation by astrologer Jeffrey Brian, who is drawing heavily from Nicholas Campion’s, The Book of World Horoscopes, this chart represents the finalization of the U.S. government structure, where the legislative, judicial and executive branches come together with the completion of the executive branch, initiated with the swearing in of George Washington. Prior to writing this article, I had the idea about a year ago to investigate further after listening to a similar presentation by Jeffrey Brian but time got away from me. I’m glad that I caught it and remembered to come back to it, though as the partial eclipse that we just experienced is only 16 minutes of arc away from the Sun in this chart, just a little over .25 degrees from exact! (yes, I know from a tropical zodiac reckoning).
Now, if one can take all that was written here within context of the current times and compare that to the above listed trigger dates, then one may see some interesting things and be able to connect some dots. Does this chart represent our government as an institution? Can this chart represent something very important to the nation? Does this country, or any country, have just one singular “chart” to represent everything about a country, including it’s people? Can there be multiple charts? Is the chart of the People also the chart of the government?
Jeffrey Brian raises some good questions although I do not agree with his assessment with this chart representing the American people as a big Taurus archetype. Brian was going through the charts in the video that he created, asking which chart is the real U.S. chart, which is a very good way of going through this kind of question or at least a good start anyway. I’m not sure that this is the only way to go with the idea as far as signs go, however. What I’m thinking now is that Taurus represents the Federal Government, while Cancer represents the people in the 4 July 1776 Declaration of Independence chart. Why?
Because Cancer is tribal in nature and Cancer will defend itself. America was, and still is, composed of lots of kinds of tribes and yet we typically all identify as Americans despite our many internal differences. Taurus is autocratic with a brass tax focus on the fundamentals and they tend to listen deeply–Americans are certainly not that, at least not in the way that the typical Taurean is. I will have to say that both signs are security focused for sure. However, are Cancerians into preemptive strikes (well one was, Bush 43)? Maybe sometimes. But is there big money in it and does that money embolden a certain kind of control? Let me ask you this: What signs must have control in the way that most conceive of in their idea of the signs? Cardinal, Fixed or Mutable? Most would say the fixed signs, now see the fixed angles and fixed planets in the chart below. Also, see Israel’s chart as an example.
Harry S. Truman was a Taurus (Sun/Neptune in Taurus, Mars in Leo & Moon is Scorpio) and the first American president who figured out how to truly play the U.S. Federal system like fiddle, carefully watching, observing and listening through the previous 16 FDR years. FDR had 3 planets in Aquarius and 5 planets in Taurus, both fixed signs. Soon, Truman realized that big government is an instrument of and for business–which is an enormous global business in and of itself. Within the context of the system and the times that he lived in, Big Business meant Big Control following a Big War. In fact, President Truman (D) managed to drop two atomic bombs on Japan, thus destroying two major cities. Later, this was also shown to be an object display to the U.S.S.R., rather than an excuse for an ending of of the War by abandoning plans for a ground invasion of Japan, all within the reasoning of saving lives. With the dropping of the atomic bombs, everyone around the world got the message, and the proof that weapons and war are the biggest business of all–literally and figuratively. Following Truman, President Dwight Eisenhower, a.k.a. “Ike,” with only Jupiter in fixed Aquarius and all else in the Cardinal and Mutable signs, including the angles, warned of this problem in his farewell speech citing the infamous “Military-Industrial Complex.”
Back to the signs–if we’re going to make the comparison of a people of a nation to particular sun signs, then I think we have to go deep into the psychology and the history and all of the past actions that we can come up with. And this is by no means any kind of an exhaustive analysis and of course, I can be wrong about all of this. If you are able, read your Linda Goodman synastry book, Love Signs and see the relationship between Taurus and Cancer. Taurus provides and assuages the fears of the Cancerian. Substitute Taurus for Big Govt. and a mostly patriotic and sometimes fearful people for Cancer and there you have it. Taurus can control the fear through ignoring or fixing.
In sum, I actually feel lucky to have run across Mr. Brian’s work because it led me to this chart with the accompanying realizations: 1) The Federal govt is a Taurus institution and 2) a partial solar eclipse just landed on top of it! And I do realize that is quite a lot to put into one article so I do apologize if it is too long for your liking. And there’s probably some typos here and there as well. At any rate, I hope that you enjoyed it and have learned something. And yes, I am offering Vibrational Astrology and Chinese Four Pillars sessions so contact me for an appt.
